Mocap® 15G is a restricted-use nematicide-insecticide containing 15% Ethoprop (an organophosphate). It is designed to control a wide variety of nematodes, including lesion, root-knot, spiral, and stubby-root nematodes, as well as certain insects like wireworms, corn rootworms, and various cutworms. The product is a granular formulation intended for outdoor agricultural use on crops such as bananas, plantains, cabbage, corn, cucumbers, potatoes, snap beans, lima beans, sugarcane, and tobacco. Application methods include banding or broadcasting granules into the soil, often requiring incorporation with mechanical equipment. Because it is an organophosphate, it carries significant toxicity risks; it is fatal if swallowed or absorbed through the skin and can cause irreversible damage. Handlers must use specific personal protective equipment (PPE), including chemical-resistant gloves, long-sleeved clothing, and potentially respirators depending on the application method. It is critical to avoid application near water to protect aquatic organisms and to follow specific rotational crop restrictions, such as not planting leafy vegetables within 30 days of application.
